So I have finally finished my work. I snitched the last lose ends by ‘binding off’ or ‘casting off’. I had to google another knitting video to help me because I have never had to finish knitting anything before. I have started many knitting projects but this will be my first complete project even though it really has no purpose. The YouTube video I used was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4V4DSJ9hUE which was really helpful! I am happy to say my first knitting project is officially complete! What this experience has taught me was I can finish anything I start with patience. That is what I lacked before. I never truly had the patients to continue knitting and finish any project I started. Now I realize if I put my mind to it and set regular goals to help me I can finish anything! I am very happy I did this but I don’t think I will knit for a while now. While it is fun to do on occasion when there is nothing else to do, I don’t feel the need to go and knit again. But the next time i feel like it I will work hard to get better because I am still making silly beginner mistakes. But I did have fun doing it and I hope to start some more projects in the future!

I had been trying to keep up knitting these last few days but I have been pretty busy. I have added a few more rows but not nearly as much as I had last time. I don’t think I want it much bigger than this so when I finish it, it won’t be that much bigger than how it is now.
I plan on finishing it by this Thursday and I have no idea what I’m going to do with it when it’s done. This will be my first time finishing a knitted pattern! I have started many before but never finished so I’m excited to finish it completely!

So I had a lot of time these last few days and have focused on knitting. I have noticed it is becoming much easier to knit faster and better! It was pretty cool how easily I remembered to knit again. I was pretty proud how well it had turned out so far! I don’t really know what this would be in the end because I didn’t make it large enough to be a blanket or small enough to be a small scarf. I guess I’m just gonna keep knitting until I feel it is large enough to be cool! It’s pretty cool right now but I wanted it being bigger. I will be pretty busy for the rest of the week so I probably won’t be able to knit as much as I had these last few days! I really did a lot without realizing it! I can’t wait until this is done!

I bought this yearn at Michaels in case
anyone wants to know.
So this weekend I went out and received my materials to learn how to knit! I went out and bought this pretty green yearn and a few knitting tools as seen in the left picture.

This book can be found on Amazon
written by Penny Hill.

After buying this yarn I stopped by my local library and managed to find a great 'learn how to knit' book (on right)! After looking through the first few pages I was very confused with the pictures, I figured the best way I could re-learn knitting is through watching someone else doing it. So I went to Youtube and looked up 'How to knit basics' and I found this lovely video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCgEUwESYZk). I found it very helpful! I started to rememberd how to knit again and was on my way to re-learning!

My first step was to create a slip knot; as demonstrated in the video. After creating this knot I had to create a row of more knots down one of my needles. This was called a 'cast on' apparently. After this I was to create the next row on top using both my needle tools now. I had forgotten how hard it is to knit but it was slowly comign back to me and becoming easier! I could not get them a well done as the book or women in the video but I like to think I am doing well! I will post later this week, hopefully, with my progress to far!

For my fourth quarter project in my English class I have assigned to try to learn something new! I must blog at least three times about my experience. I have chosen to improve my knitting abilities. I once learned the basics of knitting in 6th grade but never improved on it. I have always wanted to knit something and so I am going to take this opportunity to focus and learn. I wish to knit a small blanket of some sorts as my first project!!
